My name and my village

My name is Diana Nyaboke Bichage.I am named Diana which means bright when the song of princess Diana was released. The word Nyaboke which means the woman of success,I inherited it from my aunt who died long ago.The word Bichage is for my father,I was given it as a surname.

My village is called O`Mote O Bichage. It was named when Bichage the great politician who owned the largest tree in Kisii, along the road. The travelers used that name as to alight their destination. The word then became natural and the ancestors crowned it as the village name.

The name Nyaboke is given after the great harvest of honey which in Kisii is called `oboke`.Even during marriage, according to our culture, they could give you a name with a meaning,so that`s why Nyaboke which means success is a Kisii word.
